What will actstwenty9 do?
The hope is that this will be a movement that encourages followers of Jesus Christ to take seriously the call to mission in a nation that desperately needs to hear (and see) the good news of Jesus Christ in action. The hope is that actstwenty9 will offer:
- encouragement through web articles and links and other media
- stir and sometimes challenge the church to reclaim words like “evangelism”, “conversion”, “sin”, “repentance” and “orthodoxy”
- provide opportunities for celebration, teaching and proclamation through conferences and other public gatherings
- exploring how multimedia technology can enable the mission of the church
- probably a whole lot of other things that God has still to make known
Purpose ofactstwenty9?
actstwenty9 is a call to renewal in the mainline Christian church. In that call there will be challenges to ongoing reform, but this is not a protest movement. Rather, this is a movement seeking to take seriously the call found in the Basis of Union of the UCA – and similarly in most confessing documents of orthodox Christian churches – to “worship, witness and service” as prophetic disciples of Jesus Christ.
