His granddaughter Alma remembers that he had a large beard. She and her sisters used to visit he and his wife after going to the local Baptist Sunday School.

Wife:   Jane Webb

Born:

27 Oct 1859

5 James St, Peckham, London

She was still alive when her granddaughter Joan went to Australia in 1951.

Alma Shoubridge says that her father Henry Charles was the youngest of 15 children born to this couple. There were probably some infant deaths along the way, because it is unlikely that there were eight children born between Emily in 1891 and Henry in 1898. Their son Thomas was the only one to have handed down the name Shoubridge through his son Keith. . One of the daughters spent her life in a mental home, suffering from melancholia after her fiance died in WW1.
