As well as being an artist, Frederick was a poet. He was indentured as an apprentice in November 1875 and completed it on 4th November 1881. He did beautiful illuminated manuscripts.  In 1881 he was living at 9 Vine Terrace, Lambeth with his parents. He also lived at 44 Waterloo Rd, Lambeth.  They lived at Southville Rd, Wandsworth, in 1891. He and his family lived at 72 Bolingbroke Gve, Wandsworth for many years.

Millicent (known as Aunty Mill) was a Christian Scientist and lost a fiance in WW1. She lived with her parents at 72 Bolingbroke Gve, Wandsworth for many years along with Joan and Jack Howe and their children before they came to Australia.

Joseph was a carpenter who joined the Merchant Navy during WW1. He was gentle, intelligent and clever, loved cooking, reading, ‘Toytown’ on the radio and smoked a pipe. He and Florence had seven children, two boys dying as infants

He was a clerk and traveller in the Middle East for America Rubber Co and spoke Arabic. He had 2 sons.

 

4.  Jack Gordon

Jack was a rifleman and a member of the Queens' Westminster Rifles. He went missing in France during WW1, probably during the Battle of the Somme. His name is on the memorial at Thiepval in France and his parents kept an altar in his memory with medals, photos and candles. Before the war he was an artist whose self-portrait was in the Royal Academy.
