Silicon Chip SC480

This Silicon Chip designed amp was built using 2 Dick Smith Electronics kit. I had enough components on hand to build the power supply, so the recommended PSU kits were not used.

I built this amp because it was on special for A$38 per channel and temptation just got the better of me. I was curious about using TO3 output transistors and these amps use the old faithful 2N3055/MJ2955 transistors. I think this amp punches above its weight, certainly above my expectations for such a cheap kit.

"The two versions of the SC480 amplifier: on the left is what could be called the direct replacement of the ETI-480, with the same TO-3 output transistors (2N3055/2955). Performance, though, is streets ahead."
