56) Japanese pottery is a
precious a bountiful thing. This photo
doesn't do any justice to it, not nearly.

57) In my last few days
in Nagoya, one of my oldest friends, Stuart
Barr, and his fiancée Sachiko came to visit from elsewhere in Japan. We went from tonkatsu
(my favourite Japanese dish, basically a pork schnitzel with delicious miso
sauce) under Nagoya Station to cheesecake fifteen floors up. You can't really see the light (a jar full of
marbles) or the new Toyota
tower going up in the background, but they did look impressive on the night.

58) Earlier, I put up
some photos of the bamboo forest near the mansion. Here's a shot from inside it. It's like something out of Crouching Tiger in there.

59) I was always going to
end on toilets. Yes, toilets in Japan look like
something out of Star Trek. That's
cool. What I particularly loved is the
bottom-washing symbol below. Is high
pressure better than low? I don't know;
I was too scared to try it out, just in case the big red Stop button turned out
to be absolutely vital.
