Marrassa

The Marassa twins. The sacred children. Remembering all young life lost in war. The Marassa are entwined in the protection of children and fertility. After seeking Legba to open the door to spirit, it is the Marassa you will find.

The twins: playful, energetic and deeply caring, possess the herbal remedies and are up for sharing. Energies so needed when world guns are blaring.

Danballa

The similarities between Danballa, the supreme snake spirit in Vodou and Nyungar creator spirit the Wagyl are striking. These creator spirits must be sick in these poisonous times. Chemicals are filtering through our soils into our waterways. The wisdom of ancient cultures is in their respect for the living earth. Danballa lets us unite and embrace our past and present.

La Sirene

La Sirene, synonymous with mermaids beauty and song. But to follow her voice could be the death of you. She embodies the dislocation from and reconnection to Mother Africa. She is the merchant ship stealing the children. She is Mother Ocean, taking you to murky depths for 3 days, 3 weeks or 3 years. When you return from this self reflection, the wisdom gained is powerful. La Sirene is the patron of all musicians, syncopating tide and singing sounds of the sea.

Ezili Freda

Ezili Freda, the sprirt of love. She can't get enough of herself. She wants wealth, she wants men and she demands they treat her like a lady of high class. She is Barbie. She is a spoilt Princess. She is the adultress, mistress, damsel in distress. Considering herself the Virgin Venus.

Azaka & Kouzin

Azaka and Kouzin, the enterprising archetypal farming spirits. Providing for themselves and the community through tireless efforts on the land. Azaka, denim and red flannel. A bottle of rum never to far away. His is a simple lifestyle. Kouzin the colourful, loud and cheerful. The Vibrant raucous bird who lets her intentions be known. In the marketplace her styles are on show. They love the toil and sweat of it all.

Ogou

Ogou, Vodou patron saint of the USA. Ogou takes many shapes. Balendjo the heartfelt surgeon; Feray the mechanical cyber warrior; Yamsan the unreliable drunk who speaks his mind through booze; Bedagri the shy and loyal soldier seeking justice or Chango the axe wielding, sorcerer king of drums and lightning. A truly masculine energy, Ogou are uncompromising and wield power like a sword. But power corrupts itself, turning on those wield it. What can we learn from Ogou?

Gede

Gede preside over the realms of sex, humour and death. One big, sexy, happy family of corpses, Gede hang in cemetaries as protectors of children. Head of the Gede is Baron Samedi. The mood changes rapidly when the Baron arrives. Swinging his hips, telling crude jokes with a nasal twang from cotton in his decaying nose. These rude, musical, lovers of sex, have no need to lie. They heal with laughter. Irrepressible, irresistible, spiritually funky corpses, Gede come to funk the party.

Gran Bois

Gran Bois is the Spirit of the Forest. Overseer of magical initiation and healing Gran Bois reveals the secrets of the dark forest. The herbal remedies, ancient wisdom and solace that can be found there is found through Gran Bois. Warning us against environmental destruction. When we endanger Gran Bois. We endanger ourselves.

Ezili Danto

Ezili Danto, grand matriarch, has had enough of men. Men have cut out her tongue to keep her quiet. This gives her great strength. She is the lesbian. The protective mother. The feminist voice. The spiritual mother of everyone.
