What is Gaelic Dream? (It's a tidge more than a little dance troupe)

Gaelic Dream is a group committed to entertaining people and promoting Irish, Scottish and Danish values through their dance, music, song and other cultural activities. We in our small way try to live and promote the traditional values of harmony, freedom, fairness, and generosity of spirit.

I am not an expert on Irish, Scots and Danish history but I could confidently say I know a fair wee bit more than most people. History, especially the history of the Irish, Scottish and Scandinavian connection, is a passion of mine and I personally identify intensely with Irish, Scots and Danes wherever they may be.

Even from a small study of these stalwart people one cannot fail to see their struggle to keep their traditional values in the face of hardship, frequent poor leadership, misplaced but noble loyalty and a heinous depth of persecution by others intent on exploiting the personal endurance of the Irish, Scots and Scandinavians for their own satisfaction.

Most with this enduring heritage do either know of or have experienced the modern equivalents and ramifications of our historical struggle. Some of us have survived generations of it, with a steely resolve to outlast any adversity and survive well. Some of us have not been so fortunate. But we still exist, in greater numbers than ever, and under the surface of us all is the inextinguishable spark that has brought us through all manner of mind numbing, crushing adversity since Neolithic times and before.

That spark is our values passed down by some miraculous means and still alive today.

Where more needed, than in today's climate of economic and mass savagery, are these cultures traditional values of harmony, freedom, fairness and generosity of spirit. For without those values are we indeed actually alive, or living in some poor dark sham of human existence, no matter how affluent it may be.

Gaelic Dream invites you to participate in this wondrous reinvigoration of our culture and values that we along with Irish, Scots and Scandinavians the world over are now embracing. Our dances combined with the unique vibrant quality of our music selections are designed to invoke that original spirit in all of us.

May your spirits along with the dreams of your ancestors soar.
