Here we have Neferneferuaten-Tasherit's Cake Adventure!
The purpose of this adventure was to make a birthday cake for MrStinky, Russell, and a belated one for PC-Miss!

For the sake of hiding my secret identity, I have done some weird "cartoon" effect on my lovely Kodak program...
Also, in case you were wondering as to what the hell I am wearing, it is my school uniform with an apron (made out of old curtains that were in my room when I was about 5... some horrible 70s material left over from god knows what... hippy parents *ahem*) because I am terrbile at spilling food all over myself. Anyone who has seen me try to eat at a meet or something will know this :)
Here I am beating my cake...
So, anyway, now the cake is in the oven. There is no photo for proof, but it did go in the oven, and it did cook... While it was cooking, I attempted to make icing with a recipe I found on the internet. It said to put egg whites in it... The thing is, I'd never separated yolks and whites before, so that was quite a challenge within itself. Then beating the whites... Wow that was a tough one, even with that electric hand beater thingie! I managed to get them nice and fluffy, but when I added the other ingredients it turned into chocolate flavoured dribble... Ah well, I tried, had a bit of a complain in IRC, and hey presto, it turned out ok!
Check it out! The cake is done! Ooh you know what else is cool about this photo? A fridge! Ok so there was a fridge in the other photos too... But the fridge only arrived in my house on Friday! Before that we didn't really have a fridge because the old one broke (after about 18 years of crappy service to the household), so it was very exciting to have fresh milk and yoghurt again!
Doing the Icing... It turned out well at first. The icing was just as I planned (almost)... Fluffy, light, and very, very sweet. It flopped onto the cake just like it should, but the cake was still really hot so it all melted and dripped over the sides. "Well, that's ok," I thought to myself, "It'll save me time because I don't have to ice around the edges!" Cool! :)
The cake is now iced! Note that the icing is completely running off the sides... Oh well...
Tadaa! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I don't think you can tell, but the candle is falling over at this point. I kept propping it up with that fire lighter under the date writing, but alas, the icing was still melting so it fell over eventually!
I decided to blow out the candles... :)
The cake, about to be eaten...
And then my camera ran out of batteries!
Damnit!
Hope you enjoyed your birthday cake! :)
