A: Double click on folksKJ.exe and it will ask you to allow folksSCREEN to access your local network (port 2010). Q: How do I add songs to database? A: Specify the song directories in the Settings. Q: Why does folksSCREEN need to access my local network? A: folksSCREEN is a stand-alone program which can be run on other PC's (guests) in the same network. So, you can have multiple lyric screens by using several PC's in your network. Q: How do I run a lyric screen on a guest PC? A: The easiest way is to copy the entire folksKJ directory to the PC and double click on folksSCREEN.exe. Q: Why doesn't my guest screen run the slide show? A: It's possible that some paths of your photos are no longer valid on the guest PC. You can change it in folksKJ or edit the file images.xml on the guest PC. ============================================================ ==== CONTROL ==== ============================================================ Q: How do I select a skin for the player? A: Press [Ctrl]+[F12] on the control panel (in Windows layout and when music is stopped). Please see folksSC.html (under folksSC directory) for more information. Q: What does the small button next to [Mute] button mean? A: There are 2 buttons for mute melody. The [Mute] button turns off the channel with maximal certainty. The smaller button shows the number of channels with the threshold certainty (see Settings). If this button is down the mute function will turn off the displayed number of channels. Q: Which mute mode should I use? A: The 2nd button is used for multiple melody channels. Sometimes there are speech parts (no melody) in a song which causes too low certainty. In those cases, you still can TRY with the [Mute] button only. It will mute the channel with maximal certainty while a zero is shown on the 2nd button. Q: How can I access control board in full screen mode? A: Right-click the mouse. ============================================================ ==== PLAY LIST ==== ============================================================ Q: There is nothing what I can add into play list. What should I do? A: First of all, you need to define the locations (directories) of your songs. Go to Settings->Songs and click on [MIDI FIles...] for song locations. Q: How do I select a song? A: A song is selected by its number. A song list can be created in Settings->Song. Q: I have copied new songs in the directories. Why can't I see them in the list? A: You can refresh your song collection by clicking on the [Save] button in the Song Locations windows. Q: How can I get folksKJ to read the artist name from my file? A: The song name and artist name must be separate by double underscores " - ". Q: What does "3rd Party DB" means? A: folksKJ support third party DB (California Electronics). If you are the owner of the DVD put it in your drive. Rename the file "ce.db" to "external.db". Go to Settings->Songs and set the path of the 3rd Party DB to the location of your HOTDOG00.DAT file. Q: Why doesn't it play the song after I entered a song number in the edit box? A: After you press enter the selected song is only inserted (at the beginning) of the play list, i.e. if there is a song running you have to wait until it finish or press [Next] to skip it. This allows you to select next song while another is running. ============================================================ ==== BACKGROUND IMAGES ==== ============================================================ Q: Where does the program pick up the background images? A: You can put your images in several directories. Then go to 'Settings' and select a photo album in the 'Audience' section. Click [Edit] to define the image locations for the album. Q: What size of image can I use for the background? A: Your image will be fitted to the screen automatically. If the size of the image is too large it could affect to the synchronization of the lyrics. Q: Why doesn't it show the images I've added into my existing album? A: folksKJ database will only be updated after changes have been made in the settings. So, go to settings, click [OK] and restart folksKJ. Q: How can I turn off the time stamp? (not in v4.00) A: Press the [t] key to toggle display mode: Date only -> time only -> date & time -> off ============================================================ ==== LYRIC ==== ============================================================ Q: I want to print the lyrics of a song, how can I do that? A: Click on [Info] and select the Lyrics Tab. Then copy and paste the song lyrics into any word processing application. ============================================================ ==== SETTINGS ==== ============================================================ Q: What is Minimal Velocity for? A: Each note is played with a certain velocity. For some reasons, there are notes in some songs which is played but not hearable. Those notes will mislead the melody detection. Minimal Velocity is used to ignore all notes played below the given velocity." ============================================================ ==== MISCELLANEOUS ==== ============================================================ Q: Why does it sometimes show one track more than in my MIDI file? A: If folksKJ cannot find lyrics in any track it will add one track for lyrics (only for program technical reason). Q: Why doesn't folksKJ work properly after a crash? A: There are 3 processes when folksKJ is started, folksKJ, folksSCREEN and SkinForm. If one of these processes remains running the next restart of folksKJ will fail.
