David Taplin joined Focus Psychology in May 2010 as a consulting psychologist with over 22 years experience. David shows warmth and genuine empathy in helping people to live their lives more fully. In addition to private practice, he has worked in hospitals, mental health services, schools and university services to assist people whose lives have been effected by anxiety, depression, grief or trauma.
David has a particular interest in fathering and working with men and boys to achieve healthier emotional lives and relationships. This male perspective in therapy is particularly evident in the success David achieves with adolescents and young men. David has also worked in Health Service and Education Management and consults with executives and managers to achieve better outcomes while maintaining good mental health.
Reshmi Pal is a consultant Psychologist with more than 25 years experience. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, the APS College of Counselling Psychologists and the APS College of Educational and Developmental Psychologists. She has been working in private practice in the Hills district since 1998. She has extensive clinical expertise in adult mental health, adolescent, family and couple therapy. Areas of expertise include: Depression/Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Addictions, Substance Use, Personality Disorders, Couple and Relationship counselling.
Reshmi also has significant cross-cultural expertise. She is a consultant psychologist with the Clinical Consultation and Assessment Service of the Transcultural Mental Health Centre (TMHC) which provides consultancies on mental health issues to a wide range of mental health care professionals including general practitioners. Reshmi’s experience also extends to rehabilitation counselling and injury management.
She has considerable experience in the education sector on mental health and vocational issues for adolescents and adults. She uses an eclectic approach in counselling, utilising a wide range of therapeutic models. She is trained in Hypnotherapy.
Bob Craig is a consultant psychologist with over 30 years experience. He has worked in private practice in the Hills area since 1990 and uses an integrated approach including cognitive behavioural therapy.
He provides relationship counselling and family therapy as well as treatment for anxiety, depression and behavioural or learning problems for children and adults. Assessments and reports can be provided.
Bob has considerable experience in the area of intellectual, physical or sensory disability for the integration or rehabilitation of individuals. He is in demand as a clinical supervisor, consultant and crisis counsellor.
This includes experience in the assessment and treatment of the Autistic Spectrum Disorders and Attention Deficit Disorder. Bob also has a special interest in the use of Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
Joy Read is a clinical psychologist working in private practice in the Hills district for the last 10 years. She utilises an eclectic approach of Psychodynamic Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Anger Management and System Therapy to assist adults, adolescents, couples and families experiencing anxiety disorders, depression and other mood disorders, grief, trauma, addictions, couple and relationship issues and adjusting to life transitions.
Joy holds a Master of Counselling Psychology, Macquarie University and is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society, College of Clinical Psychologists and College of Counselling Psychologists.
Ray Field is an expert in the use and interpretation of psychological tests and has special skills in vocational assessment. He can provide a good understanding of ability, personality, work related interests, and skills to significantly assist an applicant to find the right training and/or occupation to best suit their capabilities. This greatly increases confidence and ultimately enhances work satisfaction.
Ray provides psychological evaluation across the life span in vocational, educational, clinical and forensic contexts.
He has worked as a vocational psychologist in employment and rehabilitation planning for disabled adolescents and adults. This includes senior management experience ensuring service delivery for those with significant disabilities including learning disorders, traumatic brain injury and psychological injury.
Ray is Past President and Fellow of the Australian
College of Clinical Psychologists, Sydney Branch, Member of the
Australian Psychological Society, College of Forensic Psychologists and
Member of the International Neuropsychological Society. He holds a
