Internationally and critically acclaimed singer Hayley Clare, best known as the creator of Songbird – A Tribute to Eva Cassidy is quickly gaining a reputation for her “poignant, subtle and emotional song writing”*. (Melbourne Stage Online)
Hayley began performing around Melbourne as a solo artist at the age of 16, since then she has been a part of many diverse musical projects, as a singer, writer and instrumentalist. Completing her Bachelor of Music at Monash University School of Music Conservatorium, Hayley studied Jazz singing with Michelle Nicole and theory with Rob Burke as well as classical singing with Soprano Vivien Hamilton.
After completing University Hayley worked as a singer, singer/pianist/dancer at many corporate functions and venues with different bands and groups, most notably show band Reflections Of. Hayley also continued composing for theatre and in 2004 composed and performed the music for Chapel off Chapel’s productions of Crazy Brave and Mary Divine.
After three years of performing ‘Songbird – A Tribute to Eva Cassidy’, which included back to back seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival ’06 & ’07, produced by Clifford Hocking’s HVK Productions and Assembly UK, Hayley began to shift her focus back to her original music, independently launching her first album “Blurred” at The Famous Spiegeltent at The Arts Centre in Melbourne.
Hayley’s recent performances have included; London, Switzerland and Kuala Lumpur, as well as Australian venues including: The Basement (Syd), Canberra Playhouse and Bennetts Lane (Melb).
