Matchplay

MATCHPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP - 2012

To be eligible to play you must be a financial member of the Sunnybank Community and Sports Club as at 1st June 2012 and for the duration of the matchplay event. You must also have played a minimum of 2 games out of the last 5 scheduled single stroke / stableford games with the Sunnybank Community Golf Club (these 2 games can not include games played for the establishment of a handicap).

Qualifying round will be at Keperra Golf Club on the 3rd June 2012. If you are not eligible to play in the matchplay you are still allowed to play in the competition of the day.

Best sixteen (16) net scores on the day will be eligible to play in the first knockout round at Windaroo Lakes Golf Club on 15th July. Opponents will be determined as 1 v 16, 2 v 15, 3 v 14 etc. Standard countback practices will be used to determine finishing order where scores are the same in the qualifying round.

Eight (8) winners will play quarter final matches at Gailes Golf Club on the 5th August.

Semi final matches will be played at Redland Bay Golf Club on 16th September.

The last pair will play off for the Matchplay Champion title at Virginia Golf Club on 7th October.

RULES OF COMPETITION


1. All matches will be scored using the matchplay index below.

2. Handicap as at 14 July 2012 will be used and remain as your handicap for all the matchplay rounds. Qualifying round uses handicap as at 2nd June.

3. If a player cannot play on the specified day, the match will be forfeited except for round 1, refer rule 5.

4. Should a match be all square at the end of eighteen (18) holes, winner will be determined on a count back as follows:-
Most wins holes 10-18 , if equal, then most wins holes  13 - 18 , if equal, most wins holes  16 - 18, if equal, most wins hole by hole counting back from hole 18.

5. To ensure a full starting field for round 1, a reserve list consisting of players 17, 18, 19 & 20 will be maintained for use at round 1 only. If 1 of the 16 qualifying players is unable to play at round 1 or is not ready at their scheduled tee-off time, then the next qualifying reserve player will take their place. No changes to the other matchplay playing pairs will occur.

6. At round 1, failure to be on the tee at the appointed tee-off time is instant disqualification and a reserve will be substituted. Failure to be on the tee at the tee-off time for all other rounds is loss of first hole and loss of second hole at 10 minutes after tee time. Loss of match if 20 minutes or more late.

7. When a female is playing a male and the par for a hole is different for the male and female, then the hole is to be played as a single stableford score utilising their respective par. If a player receives a handicap stroke then this is to be added to their stableford score. The player with the best stableford score for the hole will win the hole. Equal stableford scores and the hole is squared. Female players must tee-off from the red markers on all holes.
