Membership and Playing Rules

Membership

Adult membership of Sunnybank Community Social Golf Club (SCSGC) is open and free to any financial member of Sunnybank Community & Sports Club and its staff.

Junior membership is open to persons over the age of 14 and below the age of 18, provided their parent / guardian is a playing member of the Social Golf Club.

Membership is limited to 60 persons and a reserves list is then held. If the membership list is full, then failure to play at least 1 game every six months will see a person's name removed from the active players list and placed on the reserves list.

A condition of membership is that you must pay for a SCSGC shirt which costs $35 at the time of application. This will be refunded if your application is declined.

Membership numbers may be limited in the event that too many applications are received.

Green Fees

Members :- $30 except at resort courses, where members will be advised what the cost will be.

Members:- If a member is playing at their home course and the club does not have to pay green fees for you then the cost is $10.

Juniors :- $30, a discount will be given if one is offered by the club being played at. Minimum fee is $20

Unfinancial members pay visitors rate

Visitors :- $30 except on subsidised courses where visitors pay full fees

Golf carts are not included. These are booked by yourself directly with the club we are playing at.

Playing Rules

To keep the speed of play up members are to pick-up if they are unable to score in a stableford / Vs Par game. In a stroke game if 9 strokes have been taken on a hole, and the ball has not been holed then pick up the ball and on the score card place a 9 with a circle around the score. In the club championship rounds this rule is waived and the player must complete every hole.

Remember you need to keep up with the group in front rather than ahead of the group behind.

The lowest handicapped player in the group is responsible for the speed and conduct of their group.

Your tee-off time is the time you are required to tee off, not the time you report to the starter - you need to report to the starter 15 minutes prior to your tee off time.

Ladies play off the tee makers closest to the hole as long as the par for the hole is the same as the men's par. If the par of the hole is different to the men's par then the ladies must tee off from the red tees. In championship events ladies must play off the red markers on all holes.

A player is not eligible to win 2 consecutive games. If the player has a winning score after winning at the previous game then they will only be entitled to win the runner-ups prize.

Handicaps and Grades

A club handicap is given after the member has played 2 single stroke / stableford games and handicaps are then adjusted after every game. A copy of the clubs handicap system is available on the web site.

Grades are determined at the beginning of each year, dependant on the mix of players. Current grades are: A Grade 0 to 19 B Grade 20 to 27 C Grade 28 to 36 (men) and 28 to 40 (female)

Starter's Sheet

Starter's sheet is made available at each game for the following game. If you are unable to be at the game you may email your request to be placed on the starter's sheet or ring the club captain.

Most clubs we play at require that we confirm our playing numbers 7 days in advance. It is therefore essential that if you cannot play then you contact the club at your earliest possible convenience.

As changes are made to the starter's sheet with additions and deletions of players you should check the starter's sheet on the Friday prior to the game. Changes are not normally made unless it is required to keep a minimum of 3 in a group.

In July each year the club books the golf courses for the following year. To do this we analyse current membership and average field sizes, to determine how many starters we need to book for. Most courses use our original booking request to establish their fields and will let us vary this downwards between 10 to 20% before they charge us for not having the correct number of starters. So we need to be reasonably accurate or otherwise we pay for what we don't use. In the event we have underestimated the number of starting positions required and the playing club will not allow us to increase numbers then some members will unfortunately miss out on a game. In these circumstances first off the starter's sheet will be visitors followed by unfinancial members followed by members who play infrequently.

Visitors and Unfinancial Members

Can not win the main prizes

Can win a ball in the ball rundown if they have a current AGU or SCSGC club handicap

Can win NTP and Pro's Approach

Raffles

Raffles are held after the game and at the Sunnybank Club every Thursday night between 7pm and 8pm. The monies raised from these raffles assists in subsidising a number of games throughout the year and our presentation night. Monies raised also pay for our trophies on the day and at presentation night.

We thank members for supporting the raffles on match days and to those who are able to make it on Thursday nights to assist in selling tickets at the club we thank you as well.
