CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP Playing Rules

To be eligible to play in the club championship you must:

  • Have played a minimum of 2 single stroke / stableford games with our club this year. (does not include games establishing a handicap, 4BBB or Ambrose)
  • Be a financial member of Sunnybank Community & Sports Club

Championship rounds are to be held at:

  • Round 1 Virginia Golf Club 21st June
  • Round 2 Gailes Golf Club 2nd August
  • Round 3 Riverlakes Golf Club 23rd August
  • Round 4 Oxley Golf Club 4th October

Players are competing for:

  • A Grade 0 -19 Best Gross 1st, 2nd and Best Nett 1st, 2nd, 3rd
  • B Grade 20 to 25 Best Gross 1st, 2nd and Best Nett 1st, 2nd, 3rd
  • C Grade 26 to 36/40 Best Gross 1st, 2nd and Best Nett 1st, 2nd, 3rd

Same person can not win gross and nett. Gross takes precedence over nett.

Due to variations in the course rating between men and ladies at each course, championship scores will be adjusted to compensate for these variations. The adjustment will occur to the championship score only and not to the competition of the day scores. Adjustment will be made to the ladies scores only as follows:

  • Round 1 Virginia Golf Club - 1 Stroke
  • Round 2 Gailes Golf Club - 2 Stroke
  • Round 3 Riverlakes Golf Club - 2 Strokes
  • Round 4 Oxley Golf Club - 1 Stroke

As a result of the use of the ACR/ALCR, ladies are to tee-off from the red markers only.

Scores are counted as the best 3 results out of the 4 championship rounds. You are still eligible to win if you only play in 3 of the 4 rounds.

Handicap used for the first round will be used for all rounds of the championship. Handicaps will be adjusted as required for the daily competition in rounds 2, 3 & 4.

The 9 with a circle around the score when you have a score greater than nine does not apply during championship rounds. Your full score must be recorded on your score card.

In the event of a draw the count back system to be used will be on the 3 cards used to obtain the result:

  • 1st count back - last 36 holes
  • 2nd count back - last 27 holes
  • 3rd count back - last 18 holes
  • 4th count back - last 9 holes
  • 5th count back - from last hole counting backwards until there is a result

If you are not eligible to play in the club championship you are still allowed to play in the competition of the day.

Putting Champion

The putting champion will be determined during the club championship rounds.

Players are to record the number of putting strokes taken on the green for each hole. A "chip in" from off the green is to be recorded with a score of "0" putts. If no result for the number of putts taken is shown a score of 4 will be assumed for that hole. If more than 2 holes are missing the number of putts taken, then the scorecard will be considered invalid for the putting competion only.

Scores are counted as the best 3 results out of the 4 championship rounds. You are still eligible to win if you only play in 3 of the 4 rounds or you only have 3 valid cards.

Gross result only, handicaps do not apply.

In the event of a draw the count back system to be used will be on the same as for the club championship.
