
TABULA CORTONENSIS

This is the most important Etruscan archaeological finding of this century. The bronze plate, that has been called Tabula Cortonensis (Table of Cortona), contains the longest Etruscan inscription found so far. The first reports about the finding appeared on the Italian newspapers on July 1, 1999.
The Tabula Cortonensis has a size of 45.8 x 28.5 cm and it is broken in eight pieces, one of which is missing. Side A contains the names of the people who "signed" the document. The documents contains 81 lexemes, 27 of which were completely unknown to date.
