Today
there is a misunderstanding in the Body of Christ concerning
money and wealth. Many believe that it is not God's
will for Christians to have wealth, rather than give
opinions, let us see what God actaully says about wealth
Deuteronomy
8:16-19 then you say in your heart, 'My power and the
might of my hand have gained me this wealth.' 18"And
you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who
gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish
His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is
this day.
Here
we see that not only does God give the power to get
wealth, but he has a specific purpose for that wealth,
to establish his covenant.
What
is the covenant that he swore and who was it with?
Genesis
12:3 I will bless those who bless you and I will curse
him who curses you and in you all the families of the
earth shall be blessed. Since we are the seed of Abraham,
this is the call of Abraham, blessed to be a blessing,
until all families of the earth are blessed.
Then
in Genesis 17:7 God says And I will establish My covenant
between Me and you and your descendants after you in
their generations, for an everlasting convenant, to
be God to you and your descendants after you.
God
is not a man that He should lie.? ?God is not the author
of confusion.? ?If God said it He will bring it to pass,
and if He spoke it He will surely do it.? ?God is not
divided; He will not say? one thing? and do something
contrary to what He says.? ?Let love and obedience rule
your life. Jesus said "If you love me you, keep
my commandments" (John 14:15).? ?Also, the highest
form of love is obedience-doing what God said.? ?Let
the Word of God be the final authority.?
Let's
examine the following to find out God's view:
What
is the purpose for wealth?
Many
Christians misunderstand God?s intended purpose for?
money and wealth.? Consequently, we have adopted the
world?s view of? money. The world obtains as much of
it as possible and consumes it? mainly on their desires
and wishes. They? purchase? new homes, cars, lavish
trips, clothes, etc..? God desires for His children
to have these things.? However, His purpose for us having
wealth extends far beyond our needs and desires.? We
are blessed so that we may be a blessing? to all the
families of the earth.?
God
Says in Matt 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of
God and His righteousness, and all these things shall
be added to you
So
what is the kingdom of God? simply put, it is God's
method of operation, or God's way of doing things and
being right (math 6:33 amp)
Jesus
describes in detail God's method of operation in mark
4:26-32
Mark
4:26-29And He said, "The kingdom of God is as if
a man should scatter seed on the ground, and should
sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should
sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. For the
earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then
the head, after that the full grain in the head. But
when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle,
because the harvest has come."
So
God's method is seedtime and harvest Gal 6:7 Do not
be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows,
that he will also reap.
Therefore
the same is true of money, or for that matter anything
in life, first sow the word of God, sow God's system
and his method of operation and all other things will
be added.
Most
Christians have never been taught what God?s Word actually
says about? money and wealth.? We have been taught that
Christians are supposed to be poor.? Therefore,? we
believe that it is more spiritual to say, ?I don?t need
or desire much,? or ?My rewards will come when I get
to heaven.?? We are usually trying to be humble when
we say these things, but this is not humility; it is
actually sin.
We
have just disagreed with God?s Word. True humility is
practiced when we agree with and do what God?s Word
says.
Now
once you gain a clear understanding of God?s purpose
for wealth, you will begin to see how the body of Christ
has fallen short in this area.
God?s
will is for all families of the earth to be blessed
by men with? whom He has established His covenant.
Genesis
12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse
him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families
of the earth be blessed.?
God?s
will is for those with substance to? distribute to those
without.

Tim 6:17-19 Charge them that are rich in this world,
that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain
riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly
all things to enjoy;?
That
they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready
to distribute, willing to communicate;?
Laying
up in store for themselves a good foundation against
the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal
life.?
God?s
will is for us to teach the gospel throughout all the
world, and use the increase He gives us to accomplish
this task.
Matthew
28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and
of the Holy Ghost:?
Teaching
them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded
you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end
of the world. Amen.?
God?s
will is for all men to be saved by hearing the gospel
preached (i.e. through television, radio, theatre production,
music, outreach programs, etc.). Money and wealth are
essential if we are to achieve this goal.
1
Timothy 2:3-4 For this is good and acceptable in the
sight of God our Saviour;?
Who
will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the
knowledge of the truth.?
God?s
will is to have a body which? He can instruct to bless
others.

Corinthians 6:16,And what agreement hath the temple
of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living
God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk
in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be
my people.?
In
order to prove that God is not speaking about just enough
for you, review the things that He has called us to
do then decide if wealth in the hands of Christians
is not a requirement.?
How
to determine if you have a spirit of poverty...
Let's
start with this. You have the ability to change any
situation or circumstance that you currently face. This
is done by finding the Word of God on a specific topic
and renewing your mind with the truth about the matter.
So, if you find that you are suffering with the spirit
of poverty, decide that you will change your situation
and put on the spirit of prosperity.?
What
is the spirit of poverty?
In
order to determine if you have the spirit of poverty,
there are two basic principles that you must know. These
principles work for both? the positive and negative.
They are: 1) We shall have whatsoever we say (Mark 11:23).??
2) As a man thinks in his heart, so is he (Proverbs
23:7). The Scripture says it like this:?
Mark
11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall
say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou
cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart,
but shall believe that those things which he saith shall
come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.?
The
following list will help you determine if you have a
spirit of poverty. If you answer "yes" to
any of the items below, you are bound by? the spirit
of poverty.?
You
justify your lack and make excuses. ? You are critical
of those who teach and preach prosperity. ?You don't
think that a man or woman of God should live in abundance.
?You question, "Does it take all that to prosper?"
?You are afraid to give under the direction of the Holy
Spirit. ?You govern your finances with a lack of trust
and don't believe God is your source ?Your are suspicious
that those around you may take your money.
How
to determine if you have a spirit of prosperity...
What
is the spirit of prosperity?
If
you have the spirit of prosperity, there are a couple
of basic principles that you must know. These principles
work both for things that are positive and negative.
They are: 1)"...we shall have whatsoever we saith"
(Mark 11:23); and 2) "...as a man thinks in his
heart, so is he"
(Proverbs
23:7). The scriptures says it like this:
Mark
11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall
say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou
cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart,
but shall believe that those things which he saith shall
come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
The
following list will help you determine if you have a
spirit of prosperity. If you answer yes to all of the
items below, have the spirit of prosperity.
1.You
don't settle for anything less that the best.
2.You
support those who support prosperity.
3.Your
rejoice with those who rejoice when they receive increase.
4.You
understand the mandate of being a blessing until all
families of the earth are blessed.
How
can you have the wrong relationship with money...
God
has never had a problem with His children having money
and prospering. His Word says in Proverbs 28:20, "A
faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that
maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent."?
Christians
have yet to realize that just as our hearts beat without
us trying to make them beat, just as we breathe without
having to tell our lungs to inhale and exhale, just
as our bodies process food without us having to notify
our digestive systems to process it,? so is the kingdom
of God- God's system of operation. We only need to operate
within the boundaries of His system and the supernatural
process will take over.?
You
will walk in blessings, favor, prosperity, health and
wealth, and you will do this without having to pursue
wealth.? First? you must seek? God's method of operation
and His righteousness. When you find out how to live
your life according to the Word of God? you will become
a money magnet.?
Keeping
the proper perspective and the right motives in all
that you do is the key.
Let
the Word of God lead and guide you.
Below
you will find the Scriptures that tell us what God thinks
about money being the "lord" of our lives.
In Exodus 34:14 he says, "For thou shalt worship
no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is
a jealous God..."?
Deuteronomy
8:10-17 When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou
shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which
he hath given thee.
Beware
that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping
his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes,
which I command thee this day:
Lest
when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly
houses, and dwelt therein;
And
when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver
and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is
multiplied;
Then
thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy
God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt,
from the house of bondage;
Who
led thee through that great and terrible wilderness,
wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought,
where there was no water; who brought thee forth water
out of the rock of flint;
Who
fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers
knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might
prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;
And
thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine
hand hath gotten me this wealth.
Psalms
49:6-7 They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves
in the multitude of their riches;
None
of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give
to God a ransom for him:
Proverbs
13:11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but
he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
Mark
4:19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness
of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in,
choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.?
1
Timothy 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world,
that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain
riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly
all things to enjoy;
Mark
8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain
the whole world, and lose his own soul??
Matthew
6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will
hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold
to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God
and mammon. |
