Dealing With Depression

 

Is depression affecting you, but your doctor is calling it stress? There is light at the end of the tunnel, relief from lethargy and an end to the feeling that nothing seems to matter anymore. Would you like to close the door on looking at everything so negatively?

 

Depression, is the total inability to pull out of what seems like a huge black hole with no bottom and no sides,

 

When depression is conquered, this is what it feels like. A gradual move from the despair of depression periods that ran into weeks, to experiencing for the first time, long periods totally free. Depression free periods begin to grow longer and longer and attacks less and less. Then comes the realisation, that depression is being overtaken by long periods of peacefulness and finally, the joy of complete absence of the symptoms of depression.

 

How can this happen?, How can complete victory over depression occur, how can someone come to a place where they virtually forgot what depression feels like.

 

In order to answer this, let's look at what depression is. Depression is both a state of mind and a total overwhelming of the emotions. It appears to the person suffering to be uncontrollable and impossible to counteract, as it takes over their life and begins to control their destiny.

 

To understand what is happening, we need to first establish who we are, the real you

 

You are a three part being:-.

 

1. You are a Spirit, you don't have one, you are one. Your spirit is the real you, who you really are, your spirit is eternal and will exist forever.
2. You have a soul, consisting of your mind, you will and your emotions. In your soul is contained who you think you are, formed over many years, from parents, teaching, friends and our relationship to our world and the people in it.
3. You live in a body,

 

One day, your body will die and your spirit and soul will leave, for a destination in one of two places.

 

Depression is a result of a sick spirit

 

At this point we need to pause and say that nobody was born depressed.

 

SOMEBODY HAS BEEN LYING TO YOU FOR A LONG TIME

The root cause of depression is an absence of hope leading to hopelessness. When hope is placed in people, situations or circumstances, that kind of hope will always lead to disappointment, disappointment to despair and despair to depression

 

HOW TO ATTACK HOPE, HOPELESNESS AND DEPRESSION

We are living in a time where there is a sense of hopelessness, a generation of people without hope, particularly many young people.

 

Many have placed their hope in the things around them, or in people they know. As a result they have lost hope, because things did not happen the way they expect or want, or else when people they know let them down, they become disillusioned.

 

When we place our hope in the things around us and in other people we will end up disillusioned every single time.

 

Why is this? because we start to operate out of a sick spirit.

 

Proverbs 24:14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be to your soul;

If you have found it, there is a prospect, And your hope will not be cut off.

 

We need a hope that will be constant so that when we put our confidence in that hope it will not disappoint us.

 

First we must know what hope is.

Col 1:27 Christ in you the hope of Glory, Jesus is hope and wisdom and the word.

Hope = the word of God

Psalms 119:81 My soul faints for Your salvation, But I hope in Your word.

 

What can faith give substance to, if there is no hope

 

The word is the plan or blueprint, therefore hope is like a blueprint, a blueprint for what?

 

Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for

 

When you read the word of god, what you expect after you read it, that is called hope

 

When your hope is expanded, your capacity for faith is expanded

 

When you get hope, the word then you must get the substance of that word in your heart, before you action faith

 

Too many people hope things will happen, but they have no substance for it to happen, so when it doesn’t happen they lose hope, if you have no hope or no blueprint, then you don’t need faith.

 

Hope is the picture of what is yet to be born in this physical realm

 

Hope goes with faith, Hope will never be born without the substance of faith.

 

Some people say well I hope for a watch, if you can see it, you don’t need hope for what you can see. You hope for what you can’t see according to the word of God and call those things into being

 

If you don’t call it, it won’t happen.

 

If there are situations in your life that are not as they should be, or as you want them to be, we have to open our mouth and start calling them according to the word of God.

 

Rom 15:13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace and believing you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

 

John 18:17 Peter said I do not know him

 

Peter started out looking what the world was doing to Jesus, he was afraid and was losing his hope, as he hoped on circumstances, that somehow they would just free Jesus, with a strong warning or something.

 

He finished up calling those things that be not as though they were

 

Now our hope is in the word, the promises, the picture or image of Jesus our hope of Glory and we are then progressively being changed into his image from glory to glory as we get his word and do his word and become his word manifest.

 

In Romans 15:4 He said these scriptures were given so that you can have hopeThe world says you have to get a degree in order to get wealth, but the bible says that wisdom is the principal thing, so without the degree, you can still get hope. But there is no hope if you know nothing, hoping on nothing you have a right to hope for a healing, because it is in the bible

 

Psalm 119:81 I hope in your word, so to get more hope = get more word

 

Get the Spirit of the Lord on the inside be filled with Joy because of what you know.

You know how to attack sickeness and lack, you know how to attack doubt and unbelief

 

Where does joy come from?

 

Joy comes from what we know or have knowledge of

 

That’s where your joy comes from, from what you know, When you hang around what you know it will make you happy, Hanging around the Word of God will fill you with hope and draw you into your true destiny in God.

 

We go from one level of Glory to the next, to the next

 

2 Corinthians 3:18 Are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
