The Great Lakes Higher Education provides the following synopsis of its history.
Since 1966, Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation and Affiliates has helped millions of students finance their education through our work as a guarantor and servicer of student loans. Integrity continues to be our guiding principle as we put the needs of borrowers, schools, and lenders first. It’s present at every level of the company, in every interaction with our customers. It’s our commitment.
For over 35 years, Great Lakes Higher Education and Affiliates has been a national leader in the student loan industry, providing services to borrowers, lenders, schools, and guaranty agencies.
We work with schools and lenders to determine the financial aid options available to student borrowers. And, we ensure that funds are available to borrowers when needed. We’re also here to answer questions about student loans, and to help borrowers understand their rights and responsibilities in repaying them.
In addition, as a loan servicer, we provide customer service as well as billing and administrative tasks on behalf of our participating lenders. As a guarantor servicer, we provide systems and processing services to our affiliated guarantors and other agencies.
