Canadian Scholarships - If you are interested in enrolling in a college or university in Canada, this article has been created with you in mind. The purpose behind this article is to provide you with some basic information on Canadian scholarships. Naturally, when you are looking into Canadian scholarships, you should take the time to do your own research. There are so many different Canadian scholarships opportunities today that with some effort you should be able to find Canadian scholarships that directly fit into with your experiences and goals.
You should consider many factors when planning your post-secondary education, but financing is among the most important. You may be able to cover the fees at your college or university with Canadian scholarships, education loans, or other funding.
Canada Millennium Bursaries were introduced to help Canadians gain access to post-secondary education and to help reduce student debt loads. The Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation administers two programs, in co-operation with provincial and territorial governments: the Millennium Bursary Program and the Millennium Excellence Award Program.
Canada Study Grants can provide financial aid to students with permanent disabilities, high-need part-time students, students with dependents, and women in certain doctoral programs.
An expert on Canadian scholarships has concluded:
“the Canadian Government has come to its senses and has realized that in order to fuel Canada’s economy in the next century, education of its citizens is going to have to be a prime concern. It is with this in mind that the Canada Millennium Scholarships have come into being. This federal project was initiated and announced at the 1998 budget, to be implemented by the Canadian Opportunities Strategy which will have as its goal the management of a 2.5 billion dollar endowment fund which will grant scholarships to students based on financial need and merit. This fund is to help some 100 000 students annually in financing their post secondary studies leading to undergraduate degrees, diplomas or certificates beginning in the year 2000.”
