Green River Community College - Unfortunately, in recent years the Green River has been most identified with a serial killer who stalked and murdered women along the banks of this waterway that wanders around Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. But, in point of fact, Seattle and the Green River are is home to many more far more positive “things” including the highly rated Green River Community College.
Green River Community College has established a solid and widely used distance learning program. Green River Community College offers three different types of distance learning courses: GRCC Online courses which include Blackboard and "flex" courses, tele-courses (courses on video), and Washington Online (WAOL) internet courses. With a distance learning course, you can schedule time to work on your class at your convenience without the need to travel to campus everyday.
Distance Learning students must go through the admission process just as all other students. The first step for a new student is to apply for admission. The admissions section of the Green River website describes the process in detail.
Students can apply: On-line at the Web Admissions Center In person, stop by Enrollment Services in the Lindbloom Student Center By mail, call 253-833-9111, ext. 2500 to request an application Once a student has applied for admission and the application has been processed, the student will be mailed an acceptance packet within 2-4 business days. The packet will include their student identification number and a checklist guiding them through the process.
Green River Community College also offers what it calls the “running Start Program.” Running Start is a unique opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to earn high school and college credit at the same time. Best of all, Running Start students don’t pay any tuition for college level courses.
You can choose to take all your classes at GRCC, or you can choose to split your day and take classes at both GRCC and your high school. Most classes that will take you a year at your high school, you can complete in just one quarter at GRCC!
In addition, Green River Community College does not enforce an application deadline. Applicants for participation in Running Start will be accepted through the beginning of each quarter. However, your application date will determine when you register for your classes!
