Sierra College - Sierra College - with more than 20,500 students - is a fully accredited, two-year community college in north central California, serving Placer, Nevada and portions of El Dorado and Sacramento counties.
In the top one percent of United States community colleges in awarding Associate Degrees - 4th in California - Sierra College also has the only nationally accredited community college Student Health Center.
The primary campus is in Rocklin, just minutes from Sacramento. Other facilities include the 105-acre Sierra College Nevada County Campus in Grass Valley, and leased centers in Roseville and Truckee.
Sierra College has small student to teacher ratios. Its smaller classes mean more individual instruction and attention both in and outside the classroom.
At Sierra College the focus is on student learning and high quality teaching, not research or publication. Sierra College has a national reputation based on excellence in such academic areas as Computer Science, Math, Electronics, Nursing, Early Childhood Education and many more.
Sierra College courses focus on the real life application of current issues and technologies, and are primarily taught by instructors with masters degrees in their fields. Many are currently working in the private sector. Quality instruction contributes to Sierra College being ranked first in Northern California in transfers to the University of California and California State University systems.
There is a wide range of opportunities for students to achieve their goals; Associate in Arts of Associate in Science Degrees in sixty-eight programs, Associate Degree in Liberal Arts, fifty-seven Certificate Programs for careers in industry and business, and a first two years of pre-professional programs in Medicine, Law, Engineering, Computer Science and Education. Sierra Emeritus College courses are designed for adults aged fifty-five and over with no previous educational background necessary.
Flexible time-tables are possible for classes and distance learning courses are available to those working off-campus through the medium of television and Internet.
