To date BLISS has achieved the following:
1. Initiated the involvement of Snr Const Julie Simpson, Police Youth Resource Officer fortnightly at Bayswater North Primary School (to work with Grade 5's)
2. Conducted two graffiti removal events (September & November 2008)
3. Initiated and implemented the "50 in my street" sticker program on rubbish bins in four streets in Canterbury Gardens where speeding is an issue (more than 300 houses)
4. Initiated Speed Radar Trailer monitoring in these same four streets
5. The approval of a gate into Arrabri Play Space to limit access of vehicles after hours.
6. Regular security patrols after hours of Arrabri Community Play Space and surrounding buildings.
Current Priorities
Reduce the incidence of speeding through Canterbury Gardens Estate
Reduce anti-social after hours behaviour around Arrabri Play Space
Pinpoint graffiti and acts of vandalism
Gain better understanding of reported/non-reported crime in Canterbury Gardens Estate
Community awareness of BLISS priorities and engagement of community in BLISS initiatives
Develop relationships between residents, police, local government and other safety agencies to create positive outcomes for the estate.
A long but worthwhile task.
