Future Competencies For Leaders - Future competencies for leaders, what does this mean? Well, since the major scandals that rocked the financial world, leaders of companies have been forced to learn the rules and ethics of the business world. By learning these ethics and rules people hope that new company leaders will show a greater competence in the work place. There of course will always be room for improvement no matter how good the rules seem today.
With future technological development and new rules to abide by the competence of leaders will be tested as hard decisions need to be made and the competence of the leaders will need to be up to the task of leading their company through crisis after crisis and manage to keep their company afloat.
Really, if you know your boss is incompetent, would you feel secure in your position when your boss has no idea what it is that you do?
The fight against incompetence means more training of current executives while new executives have to have that knowledge already. But, there are those cases where an incompetent is placed in a position of authority because he is a friend of the family, or is a member of the family that owns the company. Then you might want to find an alternative company in which you wished to be employed.
You can’t avoid running into incompetence in the work place, no matter what field you are in. That is a scary thought isn’t? The thought that a doctor could be as knowledgeable about medicine as plumber would be. Steps are taken to prevent such a thing from happening, but there are those exceptions that seem to slip through the cracks.
If you come across an incompetent employee and you are the boss what do you do? Some would simply fire them; others would be offered a chance to gain training, what is the best thing to do? It depends on what type of job that employee does, if it requires possible life threatening situations either for the employee directly, or to consumers, I might just fire them. What would you do? It is something a manager has to decide for themselves.
