Wi Fi’ Trends Future Growth - WI FI’ trends future growth, what is it and what does it mean. Well, WFFI means wireless area network, like DSL. The future of WIFI is pretty certain as it can produce faster load and download speeds than conventional dial-up internet connection. With the advent of wireless networking, people everywhere were able to have numerous computers linked without wires throughout their homes and still be able to access the internet through a main hub.
This technology has crossed over to the cyber café where before wireless networking, computers had to be bought and maintained by the proprietor of the café. Now, people can just walk in with a wireless capable laptop and access the internet without the owner of the café ever having to repair a single computer. There is a term that is directly associated with both WIFI and the cyber café, the term is hotspot, or wireless hotspot. A place where the wireless connection is very good and multiple users can logon to the internet.
There is a downside of course, since it is a wireless connection there is the chance of “war-driving”, or someone hijacking your connection bandwidth for themselves, thus getting internet for free while you get stuck with the bill. However, wireless connection hardware is now coming with firewalls to keep war-drivers out of your connection bandwidth. While this helps to keep out war-drivers there are other minor irritations out there.
For instance, if your telephone, or microwave run on the same frequency as your wireless connection you could suffer from slow downs or sudden loss of connection. There are a number of fixes to keep this from happening; still they are irritating that they happen at all.
Another is increased risk of virus infection on your computer. When you have a wireless connection usually that connection is left on and since your computer ID is static, you can have an increase chance of attacks from hackers. Your computers ID on a dial –up changes every time you dial – up your internet connection, where a static ID remains the same as it does not go offline. Just use firewalls on your computer and a good anti-virus and you should be fine.
