Another important part of the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act is that it requires that your creditors not tell people that they’re collecting information because you’re in debt. This way, you’re protected from losing your job as a result of information about your debt situation getting spread around.
The Fair Debt Collection Practice Act will also keep you safe because it makes sure that all of the creditors who are trying to collect money from you have to inform you of the actual amount that you owe. If your creditor lies to you about the amount owed, then they are in violation of this act and can be fined. You should make sure that you’re familiar with this act if you’re in debt at all.
