Free Credit Checks - Free credit checks are important checks to have done. They offer a factual record of your credit payment history. Your credit history is provided to companies and individuals by credit bureaus for purposes permitted by law, usually to grant you credit. The main purpose of getting free credit checks is to help a credit grantor deciding whether to grant you credit based upon your credit payment history. A credit report is a report generated from your credit file this is a special database with your credit history. Most companies will do free credit checks prior to allowing you the credit you are asking for. The credit checks help you and the lender.
More than 205 million people in the United States have a credit card, car loan, and mortgage or student loan. Almost every one of them has a credit file. Companies put the information on your payment history into the credit bureaus. Getting free credit checks is a way that enables a lender to look at this information. There are three major credit bureaus in the United States: Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. It is good to look at your credit on a regular basis. Even though you may think your credit is in real good shape you may be surprised to find out that something false was accidentally put on your credit or you could be the victim of identity credit theft.
Besides free credit checks you may find that the best way to track changes in your credit profile is to purchase a credit monitoring service. Usually the credit monitoring service includes a credit report and updates for 30 days. These services do charge a monthly fee. They will check your credit every 30 days and send you information every time someone as even looked at your credit. This will avoid problems of finding the information after too much damage has been done. Whether you decide to file your own free credit checks or work with a credit monitoring service remember that it is very important to keep up with your credit information regularly to make sure it is accurate and up to date. You never know when you will need to use your credit for an important purchase in the near or distant future.
