Web Based Calendars - web based calendars are some of the most useful, and frequently underrated devices available. If you run a business in the service sector, a web based calendar can make all the difference. I know. I have been using Web calendars for months, and have seen dramatic increases in business.
You see, I am a promoter. Not only do we have some of the best parties and events, but we have one of the sleekest webpages out there. Before we got our web based calendars, we thought it was enough to list the dates of events. We had a column in the webpage that showed when each concert was happening, with relevant information and links to any sites that were required. This worked pretty well for a while, but I did not realize how much web based calendars would improve things.
You see, changing over to web based calendars increased functionality dramatically. It allowed me to do all sorts of neat things. Not only could I list events, but I could allow my clients to update their own information. Bands are known to be quite flaky. Before I used web based calendars, keeping track of the schedule was a nightmare. Any time that someone wanted to change the date of a show, or even the time and accommodations, I would have to pull out my old paper calendar. The web based calendar changed all that. Now they can go right up on the site, look for alternate times, and submit a request directly to me. It all shows up right on the web based calendars page.
Of course, there are plenty of other uses for web based calendars. You can make your own calendar for a group, for example. A web based group calendar beats the pants off of a listserv any day for organizing group events. If you are part of some type of social group, the best way to schedule events is to have a common place where everyone can look. Members propose ideas for new events on the web based calendars, and then everyone can vote on them. This saves everyone time, and is much less confusing than having to keep track of all of the e-mails. Anything that cuts back on unnecessary chatter is useful. Paradoxically, using a web based group calendar actually increases participation. People don’t get burnt out on all of the messages going back and forth, so they feel free to submit events whenever they please.
