Stuffing Envelopes - Working from home is fast becoming the way to earn a living without having to pay the expenses of child care. Many moms and dads are looking for opportunities where they can earn some added income while still having the ability to care for their children. Many sites advertise different ways for both men and women to earn fast money from home and one of the more popular ways is stuffing envelopes. To someone unfamiliar with this “business opportunity” it can seem like a dream come true.
The premise behind this money maker is really quite simple. The advertisement states that you will be paid for each envelope you stuff. The thing that you are not told about the stuffing envelopes approach to making money is that you will have to spend money to begin working and you will most likely not receive anything in return.
I tried this approach years ago when I saw an advertisement in the classifieds of my local newspaper. It stated that I could earn thousands just by stuffing envelopes. I envisioned overworked employees who had better things to do with their time than sitting at a desk putting documents into envelopes. It made perfect sense to me, at the time that hiring someone to handle the mundane task of stuffing envelopes would free up the regular employees to do real work. Logically this makes no sense at all, as there are machines that can stuff, seal and even stamp envelopes.
You’ll usually be required to send a processing fee. This can average between ten and thirty dollars and you may be promised that it will be returned after you’ve stuffed a certain number of envelopes. You are then sent a kit which contains all the relevant information you’ll need to get started on the road to envelope riches.
Although it can vary slightly it’s usually the same scam regardless of who you paid the processing fee to. You will be required to set up a post office box, choose a company name and place your own advertisements looking for people interested in stuffing envelopes. When someone sends you the processing fee, that’s your payment; you’ll be taking money from naïve people just as someone did from you.
This so called business opportunity has been around for decades. It’s surprising that people are still under the belief that they can make a small fortune from simply stuffing envelopes. There are legitimate ways to make money at home and it’s just a matter of finding one that works for you. Just remember that anytime someone asks you to send money before you can make money, it’s likely to result in you losing money and not making a cent.
