Composer AwardThe Fellowship of Australian Composers Inc., in association with Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, 2MBS-FM and APRA, proudly presents the 2008 WSOC-2MBS FM Young Composers Award. Entries
are invited for the Flute Quartet Composition Prize. Duration: up to 15
minutes. Eligibility: Australian citizens only. Prize: $1500 (offered
by Fr Arthur Bridge, CEO, Ars Musica Australis) and performance by
alito d’Argento Flute Quartet. Instrumentation: The members of alito
d’Argento play on four standard C flutes, with one or more players able
to double on piccolo, and one player also able to double on alto flute.
Deadline: 29th February, 2008 for performance in 2008. Entry fee: FAC
Members $20, Non Members $50. Send three copies of your score to FAC

--------------------------------------------ABOUT THE PERFORMERS: alito d’Argento was formed in 2005 to participate in the first Temby Australia Flute Competition and the annual Victorian Flute Guild Ensemble Competition, winning both. Led by Agatha Yim, the ensemble also includes Roslyn Perry, Kate Rockstrom, and Mary Sheargold – all have studied with Margaret Crawford, one of Australia’s foremost flautists and educators. The members have had significant success as soloists and chamber musicians in a wide range of competitions, and have held principal positions in Melbourne’s leading youth music and university ensembles.
