Flag V8 Cobra build up

( Click on the pictures for a slightly better view ! )

Roling chassis This is the rolling chassis. I had already prepared the jag. front and rear ends so it only took about an afternoon to bolt them onto the chassis along with the rack and pinion.
Engine fitted Here, the 302W dinosaur power plant is coupled to the Toyota Supra 5 spd. box and bolted onto the chassis. The brake lines are also fitted at this stage.
Primer The photos have taken a bit of a jump here. The cobra has been completely fitted out previously and then stripped for painting. Here it is covered in 2pak primer to seal the fibre glass.
Metalic green Now it starts to look a bit more like a car with a coat of green metallic paint.
LPG tank This shot shows the LPG tank mounted in the boot. Half of the tank is underneath so that it doesn't take up too much space in the boot. A fibre glass cover was made up to enclose the tank. A standard suit case will fit on top of the tank and if pushed forward, leaves plenty of room for other luggage. Australian design rules require a reversing light.
Engine Here you can see the LPG converter and mixer. The converter was mounted on the motor as close to the mixer as possible to minimize any delay in mixture changes. The gas lock can also be seen to the left of the converter.

Cold air box I have made a cold air box to enclose the air filter so that it only breathes cold dense air instead of hot air from the radiator.
Finished Cobra The engine was warmed up a bit with a cam and a set of high comp. heads to make the LPG more effective and the dizzy was recurved to supply full advance off idle. One range colder plugs were fitted. Wow ! What an improvement - Chirp the bags into 2nd and 3rd.

Build time was 12 months. It went well and the side pipes sounded excellent ! Burnout.wav Great for setting off car alarms as you blast by.
