The Tonight Show To Promote "Topper" 1979 Johnny Carson: Kate
Jackson, along with her husband, actor Andrew Stevens, they're doing a movie for
television called, "Topper". That's going back a few years, in the
30s, around 1937, something like that when it first came out. It airs this
Friday on another network. She's a lovely lady, would you welcome Kate Jackson. Applause. Kate enters
carrying a basket with two adorable puppies. Johnny: Hi Kate, how are
you? Kate: Fine thank you. I
brought you a basket of puppies. People have been asking me if I was going to
have kids, and I had puppies instead. You like them? Johnny: I was making a
change back stage, and I hardly had time to say, "hi, how are you" and
I went and I saw you with this basket and I didn't even get a look at it. Kate: Let me put the basket
down. Johnny: You've gotta see
this. They are absolutely adorable. Kate: Can you see her?
She's listening. This is Dolly Dumps, she's going to have blue eyes. And this is
The Pope. These puppies are four weeks old, they're real big! Johnny: Those are Siberian
Huskies? Kate: Yes, Siberian
Huskies. Johnny:
awww... now they're
a little nervous. Kate: See, his ear is just
starting to stand up. Johnny: Look at that!
They're shaking because they're scared a little bit. Kate: Yea, I just wanted to
bring them out to say hello. Johnny: Do you raise these
professionally or? Kate: No. My dog that I've
had for about 4 years, we bred her and she looked like she was gonna have... the
breeders thought she would have 5 to 7 and instead she dropped these two
footballs. Ed: Look
at her Johnny, she knows that I'm the one that sells the dog food. Laughter Johnny: Those are
beautiful! Kate: Okay, I want to take
them back now so that nobody gets upset because they're so young. Johnny: Yea, they'll get a
little upset out here with the lights and everything. Kate: Is Rick over there?
Thank you. Johnny: You may never see
them again, once the staff sees. Those are adorable. Now those dogs get to be
very large do they not? Kate: Not really, they
don't. Johnny: Really? Oh I'm
thinking of St. Bernards, of course. Kate: They're smaller than
German Shepherds, and they look a lot like Malamutes but they're smaller.
They're sort of delicate dogs really. Johnny: Are you going to
keep them now? Or do you? Kate: Oh yea! Johnny: You get so
attached? It's tough when they're like that. All animals when they're small you
say, well I'll sell them or give them away to a friend. And all of a sudden
they're around a few weeks... Kate: Well, we'll keep
them. Johnny: Do you have room to
keep a dog? There's a law here in California. You can keep so many dogs on your
property. Kate: I think you can have
three but you know, but we're right outside of the city limits so we can have
more. Johnny: Are these the only
two you have? Kate: No, now we have four.
The mother of these two and their half brother. Johnny: It's nice to see
you again. |
