Here
are some links for you to explore. If you know of any great
links, particularly Belgian Bantam sites, please let us know and
we will include them here. If any Belgian Club members would
like their own sites
Updated 20-07-2008 AUSTRALIAN LINKS Links to some good "Aussie" sites http://www.webone.com.au/~paleface/links.html This is an index linking to some Australian poultry sites. The Chook Shed http://www.webone.com.au/~greggles An excellent Australian site, with a wide range of pictures and information on all things "chook". Also has a Breeder's Directory and links to other sites. There has been a new breeders directory established by Lindsay Steele. The Australian Poultry Breeders Directory can be found at http://www.ozbreeders.com It doesn't have that much on it as yet, but can only grow with our help. This directory will allow you to load a lot more information about your birds and you can make changes to your listing at any time. It is also secure in that all your contact details are not published and it is up to you to decide who has access to them. Australian Online Poultry Breeders Directory http://insight.iinet.net.au/breeders/ Set up with various categories to make it easy to register and easy to find the birds you are looking for. Has breeders from all over Australia registered. THIS SITE DOES NOT APPEAR TO OPERATE ANYMORE. IT HAS NOT BEEN AVAILABLE FOR CHANGES TO CONTENT FOR SEVERAL YEARS. HOWEVER, THERE IS STILL VALUABLE INFORMATION TO BE FOUND ON IT EVEN IF MOST OF IT IS PROBABLY NOW WAY OUT OF DATE. Bellsouth http://www.bellsouth.com.au Australian poultry suppliers, located in Victoria. They say their site contains the largest range of poultry equipment and information on the web. It is certainly comprehensive, having all sorts of equipment, medications, books, technical bulletins, etc and a full price list for all items available. Multiquip http://www.multiquip.com.au Australian poultry suppliers, located near Sydney in NSW. They have a complete range of products and equipment available, including several brands of incubators, brooders, accessories and a range of books published by Brinsea. Poultry breeders and poultry clubs should have a look at The Pet Directory www.pet.directory.com.au in the Farm Animals section. Add a free listing there as a breeder or pop one in for your poultry club. Then have a look through the rest of the information they provide. There is definitely something there for everyone, no matter what type or size of animals your prefer.

BELGIAN CLUB MEMBERS Allan Preston has his site up and running. It is called Nalla Belgian Barbu d'Uccle Bantams and can be found at http://home.iprimus.com.au/nalla/index.html Karen Hall, one of our Club members, has an extremely informative site which includes en enormous amount of information about the genetics of the Belgian bantams. There are also heaps of photos to illustrate her articles. Go to http://home.ezweb.com.au/~kazballa/belgians/index.htm Karen Hall also has a second website devoted entirely to Poultry Genetics. It has been designed for exhibition breeders of domestic fowl to help with understanding genetics of chicken breeds and varieties. Has some very good articles and photos. Belgian Bearded d'Anvers Club of America http://danverclub.blogspot.com/ This website is just being set up, so stay tuned to see how it progresses. Belgian d'Uccle Bantams and Booted Bantam Club http://www.belgianduccle.org This is the official site of the American Club and is well worth a look. The Barbu de Watermael Club of America has just been formed. It is an organization dedicated to creating de Watermael in the U.S. and Canada and maintaining genetically diverse flocks along with the keeping, breeding and exhibiting of de Watermael. They don't have a website as yet but do have a chat room with information, articles and photographs operating at http://www.groups.yahoo.com/group/BWCA
OVERSEAS SITES There is a brilliant German site located at http://www.antwerpener-bartzwerge.de If you click on Bildergalerie that will take you to the picture gallery. The birds are superb, and in colours we can only dream about. Unfortunately all the text is in German, but maybe your computer can translate enough of it to make some sense of the other pages. The photos alone are worth a look. Christian Miniot has a good site with lots of photos. Unfortunately the text is in French, but it is still worth a look. It is found at http://monsite.wanadoo.fr/uccle Here
is one I've just received, which is well worth a look. It is
a private American site for the d'Anvers called Rancho
Rosita and has some lovely photos and other bits and
pieces on it. Jean Michael Beaugendre has created a discussion forum for bantams of all types. Even though it is in French it is quite interesting and has some good photos on it. It can be found at www.plumage.fr Poultry Genetics for the Non professional. This site is maintained by the Sellers family of Brookings, South Dakota. It contains an enormous amount of information. The purpose of this site is to promote and facilitate poultry keeping through the understanding of poultry genetics. Hopefully, poultry enthusiasts will find this site useful. Go to http://marsa_sellers.tripod.com/geneticspages/page0.html The
Association for the promotion of Belgian poultry breeds
has some good pages. Go to Chickenbreeds http://home.hetnet.nl/~kippenrassen/engels/indexe.htm. This is Joke Osinga's site from the Netherlands. Has a lot of information on various breeds and some very good photos. Feathersite http://www.cyborganic.net/People/feathersite/Poultry/BRKPoultryPage.html This is a good site to browse through, no matter what type of poultry you are interested in. It is a very large, well established site with a bit of everything - photos, articles, books, technical information on all types of poultry, waterfowl, swans, guinea fowl, pheasants, etc. It also has links to many other good poultry sites. Post mortem examination http://www.angelfire.com/ar2/rojo1/post.html This site contains a set of step by step instructions, with colour photos, on how to conduct a full post mortem. It shows what to look for in all major organs in order to determine what diseases may be present and what may have caused the death of the bird. Not for the faint hearted! The Bantam Roost http://www.geocities.com/bantamroost/bantams.html This is an American site run by Dick Staie and Terry Towe which has many photos of d'Uccle bantams, including some colours we don't have in Australia. There are also nine good articles relating to breeding Belgian Bantams. Also features a lot of links to various other sites, including a whole section on "chicken tractors". The Coop http://www.the-coop.org/index Another quite comprehensive American site with a little bit of everything for the poultry fancier. Shagbark Bantams http://www.shagbarkbantams.com/ This is another good American site with a lot of photos of Belgian Bantams. The stepping off place into the online world of poultry http://www.cyborganic.net/People/feathersite/Poultry/BRKPoultrySites.html These links have been set up by Feathersite. The index alone is 24 pages long! It covers all types of poultry from all over the world - everything from full scale commercial to small back yard fanciers. A very good place to start if you are looking for information. University of Illinois, Extension Service Incubation and Embryology Resources http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/eggs/res26-candling.html This is one of the many poultry extension sites available through various American Universities. It contains some very useful information on handling and hatching eggs, types of incubators, brooding chickens, breeds of fowl, and much more. It is very informative and well worth a look. Chicken Diseases http://www.antwifarms.com/chickendiseases.html More information on poultry diseases than you would hopefully ever need. Whatever the problem the solution can be found here - just keep looking! Merck Veterinary Manual http://www.merckvetmanual.com/mvm/index.jsp This is a comprehensive veterinary manual for all types of animals, not just poultry. Well worth a look if you have any medical problems. It has just been updated and now has a host of coloured photos as well. The A-Z Poultry Disease Index http://members.tripod.com/poultryworld/dis_dir.htm This is an A-Z list of poultry diseases. If you know what disease you are looking for there is a search engine, otherwise you can just browse the pages. I gives a short resume of each disease. Handy if you are not sure what you are looking for as it doesn't take that long to get through the whole thing. Everything
