Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.)

Duration of Course: 4 Hours

This short course teaches the student Basic Life Support Techniques that they may be required to perform in the first few minutes of a medical emergency.

Emergency First Aid - Level 1

Duration of Course: 6 Hours
Minimum Student Numbers: 8
Maximum Student Numbers: 16

This course is designed to provide students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to provide the appropriate first aid response to an emergency situation requiring emergency life support, including first aid resuscitation techniques.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. To identify & describe the aims of first aid and the role of the first aider.
  2. To identify & describe basic principles for managing an emergency situation.
  3. Provide effective first aid care & management of the unconscious casualty.
  4. Apply effective first aid treatment for a choking victim.
  5. Apply effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  6. Apply effective treatment for the management and control of external hemorrhage.

This is a nationally recognised qualification.

 
Workplace First Aid - Level 2

Duration of Course: 18 Hours
Minimum Student Numbers: 8
Maximum Student Numbers: 16

This course is designed to provide students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to respond to a broad range of basic first aid situations, including medical emergencies.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Assess and treat life-threatening emergencies and apply effective resuscitation techniques.
  2. Provide the effective first aid care & treatment of external hemorrhage and minor & major wounds.
  3. Provide the effective first aid care and treatment for fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains.
  4. Provide the effective first aid care & treatment for burns, and heat related injuries.
  5. Provide the effective first aid care & treatment of poisoning, bites & stings including severe allergic reaction.
  6. Provide the effective first aid care & treatment of a wide range of medical conditions and to implement the appropriate referral and recording procedures.
  7. Employ the appropriate techniques for moving the unconscious casualty.
  8. Implement the proper infection control and personal hygiene procedures.

This is a nationally recognised qualification.

 
Occupational Health and Safety - Risk Management

Duration of Course: 3 Hours
Minimum Student Numbers: 8
Maximum Student Numbers: 20

This course is run in conjunction with O. H. & S. - Manual Handling.

This course examines Hazards, how they can be identified and methods in implementing corrective actions to correct or control these hazards. Also the course looks at the Risk Assessment Process and Risk Control measures through a simple Hierarchy of Controls.

 
Occupational Health and Safety - Manual Handling

Duration of Course: 3 Hours
Minimum Student Numbers: 8
Maximum Student Numbers: 20

This course is run in conjunction with O. H. & S. - Risk Management.

This course looks at the Occupational Health & Safety Regulations 1988, and Code of Practice for Manual Handling.

Students will examine how Manual Handling Injuries occur and ways to reduce the incidence of such injuries. They wil work through the three stages of Risk Assessment and Control which include:

  1. Risk Identification
  2. Risk Assessment Methods
  3. Risk Control

Other areas covered in the course include:

The duties of employees and employers.
Occupational Overuse Syndrome.

 
Infection Control

Duration of Course: 6 Hours
Maximum Student Numbers: 10

An area which is becoming increasingly important in many areas of the workplace. The course covers subjects such as:

The use of Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.)
Disinfectants and Sanitisers
Initial Response on Exposure to Blood Spills and Body Fluids
Cleaning of equipment.

 
Emergency Asthma Management

Duration of Course: 4 Hours
Maximum Student Numbers: 10

This short course provides students with an awareness of the nature of Asthma, it's effects on the quality of life of the individual and the impact that the disease has on the community.

Students will be trained and develop skills in the emergency management of Asthma.
They will also be trained and develop skills in establishing Policies and Procedures Guidelines for Asthma management within their organization or community group.
They will receive the necessary training to apply to Asthma Victoria for a Bronchodilator Accreditation number (B.A.N.).
