John
Nugent, born 1826 in
Kildare, Ireland and married Mary Ann Telford, Abt. 1850 in Ireland. Mary was born
1827 in Kildare, Ireland.
John and Mary left Plymouth, England aboard
the sailing ship "Taymouth Castle"
on the 7th February 1854. The embarkation records [Mortlock Library SA]
shows they were of Irish Decent, both aged 27 and were married. Mary and John
both were born in County Kildare. On the 3rd May 1854 the "Taymouth Castle" arrived at Port Adelaide and was
quarantined due to the outbreak of smallpox. According to records, John and
Mary had a son presumably born at sea as John and Mary boarded alone in
Plymouth. John died 8th January
1867 at Bartagunya Station in Melrose,
South Australia and is buried in Melrose Cemetery.

23yrs and Charlotte 19yrs. John is buried in the Catholic Section, Innisfail
Cemetery Qld and Charlotte in the Old General Cemetery, Casino NSW. (there is
no Headstone).
