1. Donald Groat, son of Malcom and Christinian Groat nee Manson, christened 3rd March 1787 in Thurso, Caithness Scotland and died in or before 1855 in Wick, Co. Caithness, Scotland. Donald married Ann Sutherland, daughter of Donald and Christina Sutherland nee Gunn, on the 6th March 1821 in Kildonan, Sutherland, Scotland. Ann was born 1799 at Kildonan, Co. Sutherland, Scotland and died 26th August 1868 in Wick, Co. Caithness, Scotland.

2. Christina Groat, daughter of Donald and Ann Groat nee Sutherland, born Abt. 1829 at Yarrow, Co. Caithness, Scotland. Christina married Alexander Armstrong on the 13th April 1847 in Wick, Co. Caithness, Scotland. Christina died 25th April 1904 in Albany, Western Australia, Australia. Alexander died on the 21st October 1901.

7. Ann Groat, daughter of Donald and Ann Groat  nee Sutherland, born Abt. 1834 at Yarrow, Co. Caithness, Scotland. Ann 'married' George Waters in Scotland. Ann died in childbirth on 21st July 1876 at the age of 42. George died or left before Ann's death as the children were illegitimate.

12. Alexander Groat, son of James and 'Ellen' Groat nee Grant, born abt. 1849 at Wick, Co. Caithness, Scotland. Alexander married Georgina Bremner, daughter of Francis and Anne Bremner nee Downie, on 24th October 1873 in Wick, Caithness Scotland. Alexander died 24th March 1921 age 72 years. In the 1881 census they were living at 17 Vansittart St., Wick (the old family home) with Francis Bremner, father-in-law and Francis Bremner son-in-law.
