Patrick Joseph Carmody,
son of John Carmody and Bridget Considine of Nelsons Plains, married
Ann Agnes Hughes,
daughter of
Owen and Mary Hughes nee Skinner nee
Doherty, on 18th May 1875, at St.
Bridget's Church Raymond Terrace. The witnesses were Ann's brother, Thomas
Hughes of Glenlivett and Bridget Carmody, Patrick's Sister. Father Thomas Nealon
Officiated. Ann had been living at Glenlivett with her mother and brother prior
to her marriage. Ann born 9th October
1854 at Brandon, Seaham NSW. Ann and Patrick lived at Nelsons Plains during the first years
of their marriage but by 1885 they were living in Raymond Terrace where Patrick
built their home in Kangaroo Street. The first child of the marriage died at
birth.

Mary Carmody, son of
Patrick and Ann Carmody nee Hughes, born 5th May
1877 at Nelsons Plains NSW. Father Nealon gave him the Mary according to Irish
custom of the time. John married Mary Hill of Walcha NSW. John died in 1934,
aged 56 years, at Newcastle NSW.

Patrick
Joseph Carmody (Joe),
son of Patrick and Ann Carmody nee
Hughes, born 31st July 1878 at Nelsons Plains NSW and baptised at St. Bridget's,
Raymond Terrace by Father Nealon. He died 29th March 1912, aged 33 years, at
Waterfall NSW. He never married.
Mary Agnes Carmody,
daughter of Patrick and Ann Carmody nee
Hughes, born 23rd October 1879 at Nelsons Plains NSW and baptised at St.
Bridget's, Raymond Terrace by Father Nealon. Mary Married Francis John Mehan.
Francis was killed at BHP Newcastle when Michael was 3 weeks old. Mary died 17th
April 1954, aged 74, at Belmore NSW.

Owen Augustine Carmody,
son of Patrick and Ann Carmody nee
Hughes, born 22nd December 1880 at Leigh NSW and baptised at St. Bridget's,
Raymond Terrace. Owen served in the Royal Marine Artillery in the Boer War.
After returning to Australia he married Mary Davidson. Owen later joined the AIF
and served in France (WW1). His wife and children lived at Raymond Terrace while
he was at the war. He died 23rd June 1955 in Sydney aged 74 years. Mary died
11th June 1959.

Raymond Francis Carmody,
son of Patrick and Ann Carmody nee
Hughes, born 7th April 1882 at Nelsons Plains NSW and baptised at St. Bridget's,
Raymond Terrace. Raymond died 16th March 1883 with teething troubles.
Daniel Vincent Carmody,
son of Patrick and Ann Carmody nee
Hughes, born 2nd August 1883 at Nelsons Plains NSW and baptised at St.
Bridget's, Raymond Terrace. Dan rode at Randwick for some years and took horses
to India for his employer. He later worked as a butcher at Randwick. Dan married
Martha Chaafe. He died September 1934 aged 51 years.

Bridget Margaret (Maggie) Carmody,
daughter of Patrick and Ann Carmody nee
Hughes, born 30th November 1885 at Raymond Terrace NSW and baptised at St.
Bridget's, Raymond Terrace. Maggie married William Thomas Campbell (Tom), at the
Sacred Heart Church Hamilton, on 5th May 1917. Bridget died 3rd March 1972, aged
86 years.

Michael Thomas Carmody,
son of Patrick and Ann Carmody nee
Hughes, born 30th November 1885 at Raymond Terrace NSW and baptised at St.
Bridget's, Raymond Terrace. Michael enlisted in the AIF in 1915 and saw three
years service in Egypt and France without casualty but was later killed in
action in France on 12th August 1918 and is buried at Harbonnieres Cemetery in
the valley of the Somme. (CWGC
Honour Roll) Michael was unmarried.
Winifred Ann Carmody,
daughter of Patrick and Ann Carmody nee
Hughes, born 30th November 1887 at Raymond Terrace NSW and baptised at St.
Bridget's, Raymond Terrace. Winifred became ill and died within a short time on
1st December 1895, the day after her eighth birthday. Dr. Meredith attributed
her death to mushroom poisoning.
Ita Susan Carmody,
daughter of Patrick and Ann Carmody nee
Hughes, born 21st April 1889 at Raymond Terrace NSW and baptised at St.
Bridget's, Raymond Terrace. Ita married Fredrick Jay, son of Walter and Amelia
Jay. Ita was the last surviving child of Ann and Patrick.
William Lucien Carmody,
son of Patrick and Ann Carmody nee
Hughes, born 6th January 1892 at Raymond Terrace NSW and baptised at St.
Bridget's, Raymond Terrace. William or Bill married Grace Glover. Bill died 27th
March 1961, at Gosford, aged 69 years.

Veronica Mary Carmody,
daughter of Patrick and Ann Carmody nee
Hughes, born 26th March 1895 at Raymond Terrace NSW and baptised at St.
Bridget's, Raymond Terrace. Veronica went to school at Raymond Terrace, as her
brothers and sisters did, and later taught with the Sisters of Mercy at Surry
Hills. In 1914 she went to New Zealand to enter the Sisters of Mercy at
Greymouth where she was professed in 1916. As Sister Marie Imelda, she spent
many years teaching on the west coast before being transferred to Christchurch
in 1947. She came to Australia in 1948 to represent her Order at Educational
Conferences
and to study methods of teaching in Victoria as she was engaged in the tuition
and training of teachers in New Zealand. Since various rules for Religious were
relaxed following Vatican 11. Sister Marie Imelda was permitted to make two
extended visits to her family in 1970 and 1975. Before Easter 1976 she returned
to Greymouth where she celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of her profession on 21st
November 1976. She died in Calvary Hospital on 18th October 1977 and was buried
at Greymouth.
Ursula Agnes Carmody,
daughter of Patrick and Ann Carmody nee
Hughes, born 21st October 1897 at Raymond Terrace NSW and baptised at St.
Bridget's, Raymond Terrace. Ursula was somewhat retarded, but she had a
"wonderful memory, a keen sense of humour and remarkable gifs of musical rhythm
and pitch". Ursula died23rd September 1954, aged 57 years.
