Capital One - Fifteen years ago Capital One was perhaps best known as a company that provided credit services to people with poorer credit ratings. Capital One aimed to make inroads in the marketplace of men and women who had credit problems in the past.
Many of the Capital One credit products in the mid-1980s and early-1990s were geared to men and women who had been through bankruptcy or who had defaulted to some degree on other credit arrangements in the past.
As a rule, the Capital One cards during this time period were higher interest items. Of course, the higher interest rates were charged because Capital One took on a riskier clientele.
Much has changed with Capital One in recent years. No longer is so closely with higher risk credit clients. Rather, Capital One is squarely in the mainstream in the 21st century. Indeed, Capital One has become one of the fastest growing provider of credit cards on the planet in this day and age.
Capital One launched an ambitious advertising campaign about eight years ago. The Capital One was geared to reach out to a larger segment of the community. Specifically, Capital One began to offer credit cards the company promoted as having lower interest rates that many of the Capital One competitors. In other words, having staked out a good section of the higher risk credit market, Capital One moved in to take a hold of a large share of the more standard credit market.
And, Capital One has been extremely successful. While statistics are a bit sketchy, it appears that more people are turning to Capital One in this day and age for credit card services than any other specific and individual credit card provider or company.
