Bay News Nine - Bay News Nine is the most widely watched news programming in west-central Florida. Bay News Nine has been serving the west coast of Florida for many years.
Bay News Nine broadcasts a morning news program that is exactly that. While many televisions stations have taken to developing chatty morning programs, Bay News Nine has stuck with providing hardcore news programming. Bay News Nine has avoided the entertainment niche that so many morning broadcasts have fallen into in recent years.
Bay News Nine has recently adopted guidelines for covering crimes that might occur not only in the State of Florida but for broadcast feeds that end up being aired by Bay News Nine to its Floridian viewers. For example, Bay News Nine has announced:
“bay News Nine will not show or interview ‘grieving relatives’ unless we have their permission. We will state in the script that we have received their permission to use the video. That fact will be supered below the person’s name.”
As any reader of this brief article will know, most television outlets in the United States, United Kingdom and other nations around the world, regularly practice the pounce and interview technique even when a grieving family is involved. What might seem to be common sense on the part of Bay News Nine is actually a rather unique stand in the news business at this point in time.
Another of the Bay News Nine rules regarding crimes is:
“bay News Nine will not report the names of any suspects, whether they’re being questioned or have been named by police, unless the person has been formally charged with the crime. If the suspect has been arrested and not yet charged in court, we will consider whether to report the person’s name based on the circumstances surrounding the crime and the arrest.”
Again, this position is rather unique in the news business where most often names of suspects are broadcast to the hills once some indication that a person is being investigated has been made by someone, official or not.
Bay News Nine is expected to continue to lead the way in progressive news coverage on the Florida west coast.
