Emerald Junior Golf Club

Junior golf runs all year and is held on Saturday morning at the EMERALD GOLF CLUB. Junior golf is run every Saturday except during school holidays and on dates that conflict with Central Highlands Zone junior opens or senior club events. (The club will supply an electronic calendar detailing the clubs yearly programme.)

Purchase of junior clubs is recommended through Dave Delahunty at the Emerald Golf Club’s Pro Shop. He is extremely competitive with his prices and will make sure your child’s clubs are properly fitted to their needs.

The start and finish times vary with the seasons, in summer we run from 8:30am to 10:30am, in winter it is 9:00am to 11:00am.

The club requires its members to be between 6 years old to 18 years old. However with club approval, and the attendance of a parent, the club will take children as young as 5 years of age.

The Junior Club requires all juniors to have enclosed shoes, collared shirt, a personal drink bottle and a hat.

The Junior Club has its own Junior Shirt, however wearing of the junior shirt is not mandatory. This shirt can be purchased for $25. To order a junior shirt please see  Mr Brad.

Emerald Junior Golf caters for 5 divisions of junior golfers. – 2 holers, 3 holers, 6 holers, 9 holers and 18 holers. The club divisions are based on skill ability rather than age.

The yearly membership fee for

2, 3, 6   & 9 holers is $66

18 holers not playing in senior competition is $ 74.00

18 holers playing in senior competition is $285.00

Application Forms for memberships are available over bar at the club or from a Junior Co ordinator.

Payment does have to be made over the bar at the club, as this fee goes to the Senior Club.

Any children who wish to join our junior club, they have the option attend 3 times before the club requires any payment of membership fees or the daily nomination fee. This allows children to experience Junior Golf and make their minds up they wish to continue before they have to pay any mon

The Junior Club also charges a fee of $3.00 for each Saturday Morning attendance. This is a nominal fee which funds the general running costs of the junior club.

 For Juniors aged between 8 and 16 years of age we recommend them to join Golf Australia’s “My Golf” program. Please ask your coordinator about this program. This has a yearly fee of $33:00.

The Junior Club also has a large range of junior clubs for short term loan or yearly lease. Basically the club will loan out a set of clubs. The rental of the clubs is free of charge however the club will need a deposit of $100:00. This Deposit will be returned when the clubs no longer needed by the junior. The Emerald Junior Club is part of the Central Highlands Junior Golf Zone. This Zone includes the junior golf clubs of Blackwater, Clermont

Springsure (not operating at present), Tieri, Moranbah, Middle Mount and Dysart.

Part of Emerald Junior Club activities is competing in Junior Opens through our region, although competing is optional. All Central Highlands Clubs, with the exception of Springsure, hold one Open per year. There is also a Central Highlands Closed Open run each year, which is the final open for the year. Juniors are all encouraged to travel and complete at these opens.

Divisions within the Central Highlands Zone include 3, 6, 9 and 18 for both boys and girls.

The Club has an electronic Calender which is email to each junior member on registering on the clubs Email Group.

To be placed on the Junior Club’s Email Group just email Mr Tim on tim.mullins@derm.gov.qld.au and asking to be included on the Email list.

The Club is normally coached in three separate groups – 2 holers, 3 holers & 6, 9 & 18holers.

Professional Coaching

–       The Emerald Club Professional, Dave Delahunty, attends most Saturdays and at which time he provides the junior members professional advice and coaching.

–       The Club also has 5 coordinators who are accredited coaches by Golf Australia.

–       The Greg Norman Foundation’s regional professional has clinics several times a year. Junior members will advise via email when these will occur.
