Lowrance GPS ….. Advanced mode, has 4 pages. [or screens]
Each page has a menu for that page. Just press the menu button when that page is selected.
1. Satellites page. Satellite display and relative signal strengths from them shown graphically.
3D fix [best], 2D fix, or no-fix.
EPE is Estimated Position Error, a figure of around 2m is good.
Battery power remaining, shown by battery symbol.
Satellite menu Initialize gps,

Cancel navigation [ cancel navigation before or after each trip]

The sub windows can be changed by using menu, customize, for that screen.
Extra option There is a very handy speedo in analogue form available too.
Accessed by pressing the EXIT button 3 times in quick succession in map mode.
The full-scale range can be changed up/down, by pressing either of the zoom buttons.
Check your car speedo with this one
goto function, [ use the Find button ] then ……
Recent finds, My waypoints.
Use the option called nearest then select from list of waypoints.
[ provided you have put some waypoints in. ]
Inputting a waypoint.
In map mode, press enter, enter, [enter twice], this will save your current lat/long position data and the
saved waypoint is given the name 001.[ if it doesn’t already exist ], else it is named as
002, 003, etc. You should really give them a name which means something to you.
To edit this-just-added waypoint,
press the find button, [my waypoints & enter], name, [001 & enter],
you may then edit the name, position, latitude, longitude, height, etc, of this waypoint.
Use the L-R cursor buttons to shift the flashing cursor left/right
Use the UP/DN cursor buttons to change the characters, for that position.
Waypoints can be deleted from this selection as well.
When you are satisfied the entry is correct, use the goto option to navigate to/from, that waypoint.
Another menu. Behind the menu button there is another menu. .

easy mode, [stay away from this option, its too easy. You can’t learn anything]
trip calculator. [Used after the trip has started]. It is found by pressing….
Menu, Menu, Utilities, Trip-calculator. [ menu button twice ]
It will display Speed, Average, Max, Distance, Trip-time.
When a fresh start is required, select “reset trip”
MOB function. By pressing zoom-in & zoom-out, together, a man overboard MOB, waypoint is created and navigation is switched from the current waypoint to the MOB waypoint automatically, Current navigation is aborted. Beware of this function. Occasionally check your waypoints list for MOB names. If there are any, they may need clearing out.
Another point. Do not navigate with the Cross hairs on the screen. The cross hairs are not your
current position.
Backlight for use at night. menu, menu, screen.
There are several lighting options for using at night. Continuous or delay. Brightness too.The backlight has two brightness levels. Just press the pwr button briefly. It works as follows off-half-full-off in circular mode.
At the end of, or before each outing,………I do the following

Delete trail[s]. clears all the traces from the map screen
Reset the trip calculator.
