eTrex data cable wiring diagram
This
is how I have my eTrex connector wired up. I have been using it
in this configuration for a couple of years without any problems.
Having said that, this information is intended for those who are
confident enough to try and make their own data cable. Incorrect
wiring may cause damage to your GPS. Firstwaypoint.com takes no
responsibility for any errors or omissions, or for an damage caused
to your eTrex when using a non-genuine connector.

fall for the trap of soldering the white wire onto the wrong pin.
Remember you are working from behind the plug!
