Information on dog rescue adoption

Dog Rescue Adoption - The other day, I got a Humane Society adoption dog. I feel like I was suckered into it. I saw the dog rescue adoption commercials, and I couldn’t say no. How could you say no to such a cute puppy with such sad doe eyes on the television, sitting alone in a cage waiting for someone to come and pick it up. Animal shelter rescue operations know how to pull at the heartstrings – that is their forte. Nonetheless, I should have thought twice before I went in for dog rescue adoptions. It really was not a wise choice for me.

You see, dog adoption rescue is all well and good for the first week or two. The dog I got was cute as can be, although it was a little bit older than I wanted. Nonetheless, after a week it dawned on me – I would have to take care of this puppy for the rest of its life. I had a Doberman – not the easiest or smallest of dogs – and I would have to watch it grow to full size, train it, take care of it, and keep it out of trouble.

One of my friends told me that I could take the dog rescue adoption puppy back, and give up on the whole thing, but I did not want to do that. I felt like the dog had already been through too many things. Although this puppy was only a few months old, it had been through several dog rescue adoption centers already. Dogs are more like people than we would like to think. They are affected by the way that they are treated. If they are treated like property, shuffled around, and not allowed to bonds to anyone who owns them, they will develop serious neurotic problems. It seemed to me that if I returned my pooch to the dog rescue adoption just as it was getting used to me, I would be betraying it. I would be damning it to a life of misery.

Besides, it is a cute puppy. I think I am going to name him Heathcliff, although I’m not sure about it. The dog rescue adoption service didn’t give him a name, but they encouraged me to do so at the soonest possible opportunity. They know that once you name your dog, you can’t go back. You will get attached to the puppy, and then it is is yours to keep, no matter how much you regret your decision.
