Aquarium Stand - When you own fish, you must of course have some sort of aquarium for them to live in. You must also supply your fish with such things as scenery, plants (usually fake), air filters and pumps, and of course food. There are other things you should worry about as well, and the most important might be what kind of aquarium stand you will have. You may think this is a minor detail, but your fish may not agree with you.
The aquarium stand you buy had better be sturdy. This means that you have to buy something heavy duty or your fish my end up flopping around on your rug while you are at work. By the time you get home, it will be too late to save them, and you will have a huge mess to clean up. You want an aquarium stand that won’t break under the weight of your chosen aquarium, and one that can take bumps if you have pets or children in your home. A baby learning to walk could try to stand up by grabbing your stand, or a pet chasing a ball could easily knock it over. These things can happen in a split second, and you may not be able to stop things from falling over.
If you have a small aquarium, you may not have to get an aquarium stand, but you do have to have a safe place to set your fish. If you put them somewhere that gets a lot of traffic, you run the risk of them being knocked over. Larger tanks almost always require that you get an aquarium stand, and you had better make sure you pay top dollar for the best one you can get. If you get a flimsy one, or something not made to support the weight of your particular tank, you will soon regret it.
You can get a good aquarium stand where you buy your fish tank, and this might be your best option. Some have stands that are made just for your tank, and these will offer you the best protection from accidents. Not all accidents are avoidable of course, but you want to do everything you can to make sure they don’t happen. If you have to build your own aquarium stand, make sure you don’t skimp on materials or take shortcuts when building. It needs to be strong, stable, and made to last.
