Part three
A few people questioned my motives for going to the United States of America. Outside of their own country Americans are not popular people. They are horrible travellers, rank very high on the arrogance scale and every American I ran into in Europe made me question my decision even more, but I did have some valid reasons for going there. For a start, they have some of the most amazing scenery in the world, including the Grand Canyon and The Rockies, and also some interesting cities such as New York and New Orleans. I was also hoping to find out what made America tick behind the facade of TV and movies. They are the most powerful country in the world at the moment in economic, political, cultural and military terms so as a citizen of this age and I wanted to see more of the place that is attempting to control the world. It would also be remiss of me to damn the place without seeing it for myself. I don't know if I came up with any firm conclusions in the end but it was an interesting journey none-the-less.
