My Life by Fuziya

My life and my grand mother’s life are different. My grandmother when she cooked used to dig a hole in the ground. She used to put three flat stones around the outside of the hole. She put small branches and twigs between the rocks to get the fire started and when the fire was burning well she used to put the saucepan on the stones on the fire.

When l cook food however I do it differently I use a stove and brazier. My grandmother used a broom when she cleaned and me, I use a broom but my broom is made of plastic and nylon and hers would have been made from branches from some tree tied together with string made from grass.

When I compare the life in Australia and the life in my country Somalia, they are very different, but some things are better in my country. In my country you get some one to help when you work in the house. Some one comes to your home and helps you with everything you need: cooking, cleaning, washing, and looking after the children.

You don’t pay much money but in Australia it is hard because there is no-one to help you, everything you have to do yourself and always you feel very tired and stressed.

But Australia is a free country and I am happy we can live here, being tired is better than being scared for your life.
