I visited the Melbourne Museum on the 6th
of March – this is a new one that was opened in 2000.
After a guide introduced us to many features of the museum as well as
many objects on display. We entered many galleries to go sightseeing. We
stayed there for about four or five hours.
I was interested in the Life Gallery where there were examples of many
different animals, fish, birds and insects. There some creatures I had
never seen and they were very beautiful.
Through this visit I learned more about Australia’s and Melbourne’s
history and it was good to see the growth of the Australian society. Now
we all saw the artifacts from the different stages of Australia from the
indigenous Australian aborigines and how they lived a good life here
before white man arrived, all their art and tools etc. Then we saw lots of
other parts of history from our multicultural history.
Now we all live in peace, most of the time. I saw a sign in the
Aboriginal gallery that said, "We love our land here and we don’t
want to lose it!" I feel the same because we have to look after our
land and respect each other.
This was a great day and thank you Jan and Kay for taking us - it was
very special.
