Immigration Museum by Juan

I am from El Salvador and I think the Immigration Museum and the history inside is a summary of all the histories of all the people who immigrated here to Australia from many different countries. They were seeking a better future, or a better life here on this continent because this country is free from war and political or religious persecution.

The Immigration Museum is an old building from the 1800’s and it was the old Customs House and it is in Flinders St. near the Yarra River. It is an old building but the information inside is new, and people can access the resources from books, computers, and all this is very interesting.

We can learn about the adventures people had getting here. They came here sometimes to find a new job, to escape natural disasters, wars, to reunite with family and many people came here in difficult situations with no English language.

My opinion of the Immigration Museum and its history inside and outside is that it is often a sad story that is being told and it made me think of my sad memories of my country, and my family, but it is a good place to have in Australia for new and old Australians.
