On September 7, 2000 the Flemington Reading and Writing Program organised a
traditional food day. There were many people from different countries who now
live here. They brought their traditional food such as, seafood dishes from
Korea, meat rolls and salads from Thailand, Chinese noodles, and traditional cakes
from Australia.
Our teachers Jan, Kay and Robbie opened the ceremony with some
representatives from local council. And then we ate together.
We enjoyed all the traditional food, it was delicious. Then we sang and some
people were dancing together. A Chinese man called Yang Chang sang a traditional
Chinese love song very well, and there was a Korean lady who sang very well too.
We liked this traditional food day, because we enjoyed a lot of different
food, and it will always be a good memory for us.
