We had a great night  last night with some of the Kiwi athletes coming over for a BBQ and to socialise with the Aussie Team.

 

Weather wise, today was the best day we have had, glorious sunshine, the Aussies had another great day in the water. Today was dedicated to team events and the teams were:-

 

Team 1 – Intermediate Mens K1:    Ben Jones, Philip Mingerulli, Philip Gibbins

Team 2 – Senior Mens K1:              Jack Pead, Ian Borrows, Robin Jeffery

Team 3 – Senior Mens K1:              Tiki Ewing, Rosalyn Lawrence, Tom Baker-Gabb

Team 4 – Intermediate Mens C1:   Jack Pead, Ben Jones, Philip Gibbins

Team 5 – Senior Mens C1:             Robin Jeffery, Jonathan Davis, Ian Borrows

Team 6 – Senior Mens C2:             Tim Feben/Tom Baker-Gabb, Jonathan Davis/ Robin Jeffery, Philip Mingerulli/Philip Gibbins

 

The results of todays racing were:-

 

Intermediate Mens K1:         Ben Jones, Philip Mingerulli, Philip Gibbins          1st – Gold Medal

 

Senior Mens K1:                   Jack Pead, Ian Borrows, Robin Jeffery                  2nd – Silver Medal

Senior Mens K1:                   Tiki Ewing, Rosalyn Lawrence, Tom Baker-Gabb 3rd – Bronze Medal

 

Senior Mens C1:                   Robin Jeffery, Jonathan Davis, Ian Borrows          1st – Gold Medal

 

The following teams competed in categories that did not constitute medal class.

 

Intermediate Mens C1:         Jack Pead, Ben Jones, Philip Gibbins                   1st  place

 

Senior Mens C2:       Tim Feben/Tom Baker-Gabb, Jonathan Davis/ Robin Jeffery, Philip Mingerulli/Philip Gibbins           1st place

 

An excellent days racing – a job well done..  Go Aussie Go.

 

Well that is the end of the competition for the tour, we will be doing a river run tomorrow. We will be driving towards Queenstown to tackle the Kawarau River, the sections that will be paddled are “Roaring Meg” and “Dog Leg”. We will have an experienced guide (Allan Hoffman) to paddle with the team down the Kawarau River.
