21/2/10 Sydney Thistle Wins Grade 4 Competition at Moss Vale
After an absence from Pipe Band Competitions of nearly 18 months, the band made a triumphant return to Competiton winning Grade 4 at the Highlands Competition held at Moss Vale.

Petersham Town Hall has been booked for Saturday 4th September 2010 for our Ceilidh. The last one in 2008 was a sell out, with over 320 guests attending. To ensure you secure a ticket for the 4th September keep watching the website for ticket sales or contact us to register your interest.


1/2/10 - Ross Culbert appointed as Drum Sergeant
At the 2009 AGM, Martin Munro was elected Drum Sergeant of the Band. Since then, Martin has worked hard to build the Drum Corps and recruit new members. One of the new members to join the band was Ross Culbert and Martin has worked closely with him since. Recently Martin advised the Band he wished to hand over the role of Drum Sergeant and nominated Ross for the role.


17/8/09 - Weekly Band Practices changed to Monday Night
Wednesday night has been the practice night for many years, however our weekly practice has now been chaged to a Monday Night. Times and location remain the same - Ryde Ex-Services Club in the Youth Hall.,

25/4/08 - Sydney Thistle leads the Sydney ANZAC Day March
Sydney Thistle was granted the honour by the NSW Branch of the Returned Service League to lead the 2008 ANZAC Day March through the city of Sydney. Thistle also joined the march a second time in front of 6th Division (being our usual position in the march).


1/10/05 – Weekly Band Practice moved to Ryde Ex Services Club
After a brief stay at Western Suburbs Aussie Rules Club, the Band has relocated the weekly Wednesday Night Practice to Ryde Ex Services Club. The Club has made the adjacent Youth Club Hall available to us, and their support is most appreciated. For a location map, go to the Find Us section.
